In a previous blog post, I described some of the major religions of Indonesia, and I want to share information when it will be meaningful to you, not just create a post of facts that you could obtain from Wikipedia.
Before I share what I learned about education, I wanted to share a map of Indonesia, as we discussed many of the provinces, and it may be helpful as I share what I learned about the educational system.
Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world, so it is strange that so little is known of this beautiful country in The United States. There are 34 provinces in Indonesia. Presently, I am in the capital city of Jakarta. Next week, I will begin my teaching experience in Kalimantan du Sud (South Kalimantan), located in the Indonesian territory of Borneo. I will be staying in the provincial capital of Banjarmasin, teaching at SMAN 1 Mandastana (website: http://www.sman1mandastana.sch.id/ ).
We will be learning more about the country's history tomorrow in a training session with Dewi Susilawati. Be on the lookout for more blog posts on the subject of Indonesia history.
